There are many more of us who care about the history than the designers. Leave the designers at home and give us commentary that matters.

Does anyone know why William was saluting as the royal coach traveled from the Abbey to Buckingham Palace

It was a mark of respect as they passed various war memorials on the way. Kate looked down at the same moments, not being in the forces herself that was the correct thing to do as opposed to saluting.

Here in the Philippines, viewed this most enchanting event via CNN who presented the wedding with spectacular views and angles, especially insided Westminster Abbey. Enjoyed the commentary though at times it was a bit messy with commentators' voices overlapping, but then again they were having fun weren't they. Appreciated especially Piers' insightful comments as coming from an Englishman and the British perspective on myriad details pertaining to this magnificent event. God bless William and Kate! Thanks CNN!

Beautiful wedding. I feel like a Royalist, and I am American, though my ancestors came to America from Southwold, Suffolk. Wonderful coverage by Piers Morgan and Anderson Cooper. I love Piers' enthusiasm! Looking forward to the Diamond Jubilee celebration.

Elegant, dignified, beautiful wedding. I was a bit disappointed that the live coverage did not show most of the royal visitors from around the world. The King of Tonga was in plain view and was not identified by CNN commentators at all. Royals from other countries were hardly shown and not identified at all.

Imeciles spreading over public exchequer and market mafia making money out of it..Who cares? If Britons want this way, then let it be but according to me, it's a waste of public money. What have these two done for GB? Zilch. One was born to a womanizing father and another a great opportunist. Hopla Hopla .. TVs have their field day, newspapers and paparzis have found a new item and marketing royals has been a pet business in London.
Anyway, best of luck to these two! Only hope that histroy does not repeat and that ugly horse woman "Cohort" keeps shut !!

America in general is a decent country. It's just some particular idiots who ruin our reputation..... They can't seem to mind their own business. We need to fix our own problems, and stop being so ignorant before we "go rescue" everybody else.

As an American living in England, I'm happy that the royal couple have got married and I hope they have a good life with each other. There are quite a few nasty comments on the CNN website, even going back to the revolutionary wars! (what?) Well let me remind the ignorant – it was 'British' colonists fighting with Napoleon's French army, against British soldiers who were thousands of miles from home, with no real desire to kill other British people living in the newfoundland. We have never truly been seperated from Britain in the first place, as all our laws and way of life are modelled on our forefathers. We both stand for democracy and pre-dominantly Christian principles. So good luck to the royal couple and Brits, please remember – most of us Yanks are intelligent enough to not write vitriolic rubbish as faceless 'blog' writers.

Cheers and Kudos to Piers Morgan of CNN, for exhibiting restraint and a respectful silence during the wedding ceremony of Prince William and Kate Middleton. Morgan's brief and helpful comments were carefully crafted and perfectly timed so as not to interrupt what was, after all, a sacred rite. (And extra points for not using the "music" as background for chatter, as other broadcasts did.) Thank you for stepping aside and letting us fully enjoy this beautiful event! – Kate in America

This was the most amazing wedding I have watched since Princess Dianas. This is truly a fairy tale wedding. Kate is a beautiful bride, the dress is gorgeous! She wore it well!! I wish the Duke and Dutchess the best. There's a new Royalty in the future!! It was perfect timing for the sun to come out, the right moment. I think Diana was looking down on William and Kate, very proud of her son. She made the sun come out for this day to be perfect!

It's amazing (well, not really I guess) how hateful Americans can be when the story isn't about them. Yes, we all know that there are other important stories and horror going on in the world but what harm does it do to escape that harsh reality for a short bit of time and take pleasure in ancient traditions? As much as we like to think, the world does not revolve around our country and people!

AS A PERSON WHO LIVED IN ENGLAND FOR SEVERAL YEARS I MUST COMMENT THAT THIS IS A BLESSING TO THE BRITISH PEOPLE. tHESE TWO YOUNG PEOPLE ARE SO MUCH IN LOVE AND ARE HANDLING THIS SO WELL IS AMAZING. IT WAS ONE OF THE MOST TOUCHING THINGS I HAVE EVER SEEN. I HAVE NEVER SEEN THE QUEEN LOOK SO GENUINELY HAPPY AND I HAVE FOLLWED HER FOR OVER 50 YEARS. EVEN THE STOIC PIERS MORGAN WAS PROUD AND TOUCHED AS WELL AS ANYONE WHO WATCHED THIS. AND FOR THOSE WHO WOULD LIKE TO ABOLISH THE MONARCHY IASK WHY. iT PROBABLY BRINGS MORE TOURIST MONEY INTO YOUR COUNTRY THAN ABOUT ANYTHING ELSE. IF IT WEREN'T FOR THINGS LIKE THIS WHY WOULD MOST PEOPLE WANT TO COME THERE!!!! THINK ABOUT IT!!! GOD BLESS WILL AND KATE!!!!

Aren't they supposed to be in their 20's or early 30's? Why do they look so old? They both look like they are at least 40!

My spelling? You're the dunce that begins a sentence in lower case, and ends it without the period. We can only assume that you are a product of government education. By the way, lower case means "small letter." I didn't want you to be confused about the terminology.

      • J Roycroft

And one other thing...I notice that you prefer to use all lower case letters, even with your name. That would indicate to me, and the general public that you are probably an immature little girl, say about 13 years old. If you expect anyone to take your comments seriously, you really should grow up with your writing skills.

All I can say is breathtakingly beautiful. I felt an innerpeace watching. I woke up at 4:15 automatically. I did not set any alarm; it was my subconsious. The relationship seems so sincere, so understanding, so content. The visual was awesome. I watched every station at every opportunity to monitor how they were showing the event to ensure I did not miss a view. I kept one TV on CNN because I loved the hosts; their humor and their dialogue.

I hope this marriage lasts forever, they are going to be a great King a Queen some day. I'm so excited! <3

Actually Mike, Royal stuff has been in our news front page for a long time. I watched the wedding, still am; and i wish good luck to the couple. No need to throw anti-american stuff in, its a happy day RELAX.

Actually, Rachel, I was responding to an Anti UK comment which seems to have since been deleted. So out of context it seems bad.

I enjoyed watching the wedding, I am just sick of the constant bad mouthing from some, SOME, of the American population. It puts the rest of you to shame unfortunately. But I am glad you at least saw the happiness in today.

For once we have something to smile about, everyday in the news their is nothing but horror, sadness, cruelty. The loss of so many in the States from the Tornadoes is terrible, but everyday hundreds of people are losing their lives one way or another. Let's for one day have something that SOME OF us can be proud and happy about, because tomorrow the news will be about more horror, cruelty and sadness going on in the world.

it is news indeed – news by definition is newly received or noteworthy information especially about a recent/current and important event – this wedding is history in the making especially for those of us who live in one of the Commonwealth countries – and those span the world over. though to some the idea of monarchy may absurd in the 21st century, nonetheless there are still many of them in existence and despite in most cases serving a purely symbolic purpose, they are after all the heads of their respective countries, and since unlike presidency which is decided by popular vote, the rule of a king/queen is passed on from parent to child, so yes, it is news, it is important that we know who the next ruler will be, who's going to be by his/her side. and rather than lash out at people who for once are happy, who want to share their happiness with others, to give a little hope, maybe you should simply turn your tv off, or simply change the channel. but since you decided to witness this happy moment in history, i ask you to revel in it, enjoy it, this world may not be the perfect place but it's moments like these that make it a little better and a little brighter. don't you get tired of always hearing about disasters and tragedies?

Your ignoramus comment apart, I don't want you to care. But considering how some dumb brits commenting here are undignified that most of us don't give a crap about your damned royal wedding as we continue to hope for more survivors, I find it rather ironic and funny how we are the arrogant ones.

Her real name is Kate but they are probably going by the name given to her by the church which is Catherine.

I'm not truly sure if the Church of England does it that way but for example, I'm Roman Catholic and my name is Jamie Dee. But in order to be confirmed in the church, you must have the name of a Saint and so my official Catholic middle name is St. Deleros and my first can be linked to St. James. Of course, I prefer Deleros as my Catholic name. I hope I explained that well for you to understand. It can get really wierd and complicated.

Mike, This country, as in any other, has imbecilic, idiotic people who have nothing better to do than speak for "us here in these here states". Thousands and thousands of us , as in all the countries of the world, wish Prince William and Princess Catherine a long and happy life, full of joy and fulfillment. Their wedding day was as magnificent and perfect as one could wish for. A toast to the future King and Queen of England.
